Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake by Anna Quindlen

Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake is a type of memoir in essays, essays that, thankfully, run longer than Quindlen’s columns used to run.  Quindlen talks about her life:  growing up in a large family, her mother dying of cancer while she was in college, work, motherhood, and aging.  It’s more than just a chance to catch up with Quindlen since she stopped writing for Newsweek:  it’s a chance to read more stories of her life.  It’s a collection that you can dip in and out of as well, which I appreciated as well.  Her writing is smart and heartfelt.

  1. Rebecca – Interesting! And it sounds like one of the books that one can “fit around” one’s other reading – always a plus for someone with an overwhelming TBR. Thanks for sharing this.
